ST. AUGUSTINE
AND AMELIA ISLAND
JOURNEY ITINERARY:

Escape the Winter-ish Blues and head to Florida’s “First Coast”
- St. Augustine, and Amelia Island!
DAY ONE: Depart St. Louis International Airport and arrive in Jacksonville, FL by afternoon. We will settle into our hotel accommodations for the next three nights enjoy a welcome Southern- style BBQ Dinner.
DAY TWO: After breakfast at our hotel, we depart to meet our local guide for a tour of Jacksonville. Originally one of the oldest cities in the new world, Jacksonville is the heart of the “First Coast”. There will be time for lunch on your own and some shopping at San Marco Square before enjoying a sightseeing cruise along the St. Johns River. This evening we will attend one of Florida’s top dinner and Broadway entertainment venues - Alhambra Dinner Theater.
DAY THREE: Enjoy breakfast before checking out of our hotel. Our short drive leads us to the Victorian Era with a tour of Amelia Island, and the former seaport village of Fenandina Beach. We will also tour American Beach, a seashore resort founded in the 1930s during segregation by Abraham Lincoln Lewis, Florida’s first black millionaire and president of the Afro-American Life Insurance Company. American Beach was a community that was visited mostly by African Americans, though all were welcome. There will be time to enjoy lunch on your own in Fernandina Beach. This afternoon, we travel south through Fort George Island, and make a stop at Kingsley Plantation. The plantation house is the oldest still standing in the state, and the remains of the slave quarters are a rare remnant from Antebellum American life. You’ve traveled from the present to the Victorian era and now colonial. This evening we will enjoy dinner out and return to the hotel.
DAY FOUR: After breakfast at the hotel, we begin our exploration of historic St. Augustine. Our local guide joins us to share the importance of America’s oldest city, home to centuries of history! Our tour of the city will include seeing the perimeter of Castillo De San Marcos. Enjoy free time on St. George’s Street and in the Spanish Quarter for lunch and browsing. Later this afternoon we will visit the famous Ponce de Leon’s “Fountain of Youth” where you can even drink from the original well thought to bring immortality. Later this afternoon we will check into our accommodations in St. Augustine for next two nights. Dinner this evening will be at a local favorite.
DAY FIVE: This morning we will depart the hotel to visit The Old Jail, Oldest Store Museum Experience and Gator Bob’s for browsing. Then we will enjoy a stop at Flagler College in the center of the historic district. The college is renowned for its historic campus and occupies the former Ponce de León Hotel, a National Historic Landmark constructed in 1888 by industrialist Henry Flagler. We will have time this afternoon to explore
Anastasia State Park on the Atlantic
