*Please note: This journey is seven days (the itinerary attached shows incorrect end date) - SEPTEMBER 8-14, 2026 (7 DAYS)

In 2026, Route 66 - America’s iconic “Mother Road” - will celebrate its centennial, marking 100 years since the highway was first designated in 1926, a milestone that has inspired our Route 66 tour from St. Louis to Santa Monica, California. Route 66 is a symbol of freedom, travel, and opportunity! Along the route, we will explore the small towns, iconic roadside diners, motels, and unique attractions that helped shape American road trip culture.

★There are so many sights and sounds we will experience along this special Route 66 tour that we have only listed a few of the iconic attractions and stops we have scheduled to see. Our comfortable deluxe motorcoach follows as much of the original pavement as we can (or is still in use) and your Tour Guide makes this a must-see journey filled with Americana history, kitsch and fun!

Day 1:

We’ll depart St. Louis and head west through the rolling hills of Missouri. We’ll stop to visit the Circle Inn Malt Shop, Munger Moss Motel and Missouri Route 66 Museum. We continue through Missouri, taking on "the Devil's Elbow" and into Pulaski County - Missouri's center of Route 66 for  lunch and stroll along Waynesville's Main Street. Our drive winds us through through Springfield, Missouri (known as the "birthplace of Route 66").  Continuing into Oklahoma and visiting the iconic and historic stops at The Blue Whale, 66’s Rock Café and the World’s Largest Totem Pole in Catoosa, OK. Our hotel accommodations are just a short ways from the state border.

Day 2:

Breakfast at the hotel, then relax aboard as we roll through Oklahoma, stopping to see the amazing Oklahoma Route 66 Museum before crossing the border into Texas. Visits to the Shamrock Main Street and famous Conoco (featured in Disney’s “Cars” Movie) are followed by a short, continued drive to Amarillo, TX. We’ll lunch and browse along Amarillo’s Main Street, then stop to admire the iconic Cadillac Ranch for a fun photo opportunity. Our journey west offers picturesque views of the high plains with a stop at the historic Midpoint Café. Next a stop along the route at a popular Route 66 travel plaza in Glen Rio, NM known for its Route 66 classic car Route 66 museum and cafe for dinner. After dinner, our short drive leads us to one of the most famous Route 66 towns - Tucumcari, NM. "Tucumcari Tonight" became a famous slogan for weary 66 travelers in the desert and the town once boasted over 2,000 motel rooms! We, too, will make Tucumcari for the night. (B/D)

Day 3:

Sightseeing in Tucumcari this morning with a stop at the classic Tee Pee Curios and famous Blue Swallow Motel. Our short drive west takes us to a visit at Laguna Pueblo & San Jose Mission Church. By mid-morning it’ll be time to continue west, over the Sandia Mountains into Albuquerque, where we’ll stop in the Albuquerque historic district for a southwestern lunch. Just a short drive from Albuquerque is the cliffside town of Gallup, where we’ll overnight. (B/D)

Day 4:

After breakfast, into Arizona we go and a stop at the historic Tee Pee Trading Post at the border crossing. Just down the route we will enter into the beauty of the Petrified Forest National Park and a stop at the Community Center, gift shop and walking trail. Departing the park to the west we visit the iconic Wigwam Village Motel in Holbrook built in the 1940's and still an operating landmark motel today! Later this afternoon - a photo opportunity at “Standing on the Corner” in Winslow, AZ. Our westward push brings us into beautiful Flagstaff and Williams to stop at the Twin Arrows Trading Post and classic Route 66 Main Streets. Our overnight will be in Flagstaff. (B)

Day 5:

After breakfast, we stop to visit the Grand Canyon Caverns Grotto in Peach Springs, AZ. The caverns were created over 65 million years ago, formed within the limestone that was once the bottom of an ancient inland sea that divided North America. They are the largest dry caverns in the country and are owned and operated by the Havasupai Tribe. For lunch and browsing, a stop in the cute town of Seligman, AZ is a must! The town owes a lot to Angel Delgadillo, a soft-spoken Seligman barber who led efforts to preserve Route 66. When the town was bypassed by Interstate 40 in 1978.  Several colorful and quirky gift shops, including Angel & Vilma Delgadillo's Original Route 66 Barber Shop, feature Route 66's old-fashioned Americana merchandise and curios. The famous Aztec and Roadrunner Motels have been lovingly restored and Delgadillo’s Snow Cap serves up delicious sweet treats in the desert! Our overnight will be "high in the pines" in Kingman, AZ right on the route. (B/D)

Day 6:

After breakfast, we drive the oldest portion of the road into the Agate Canyon to Gold Hill where we stop at the famous Cool Springs Station! Built in the 1920's, Cool Springs camp and service station was an important stop for motorists traveling Route 66 and today it has been restored making it a picturesque stop with vintage vibes, a gift shop, and museum exhibits. After a break for lunch, we head into California to the famous Roy’s Motel and Cafe and service station in the middle of the Mojave Desert town of Amboy. Currently being restored, this site is one of the most photographed Route 66 stops in California. Our overnight and dinner will be in Barstow, CA. (B,D)

Day 7:

Pacific Coast bound! We’ll leave Barstow after breakfast, then take in the greenery of the San Bernardino Hills before descending into the Los Angeles basin and to the Route 66 terminus at the Santa Monica Pier. There will be time for photos with Pacific Ocean behind the Route 66 sign, and we’ll get to enjoy the sights and sounds of the busy and colorful pier and beach. Everyone aboard will receive a special Route 66 Route 66 Centennial Certificate of completion before returning to St. Louis via air later today. (B)
