CAROLINA COASTS

AND OUTER BANKS

JOURNEY ITINERARY:

DAY ONE:  Depart from St. Louis International Airport and land in Myrtle Beach, SC. Upon arrival this afternoon, we will be whisked away to Myrtle Beach’s “Grand Strand” - with 60- uninterrupted-miles of beautiful sandy beaches, this coastal strip of South Carolina. After checking into our Myrtle Beach oceanfront hotel for two nights, we will enjoy a delicious dinner

at a local popular restaurant. Later this evening enjoy the fabulous Carolina Opry which blends two hours of high energy music, comedy and dance. Named the “South’s Best Show” year after year.

DAY TWO: After breakfast, enjoy some time on the beach before we depart for “Barefoot Landing” - located along the Intracoastal Waterway. Here we will have time to browse the many retail shops, quaint local boutiques, and have lunch. Our afternoon will be filled with a visit at the amazing Brookgreen Gardens located on the Murrells Inlet. Since its founding in 1931, the gardens span over 9,000 acres offering a unique blend of art, history, and nature, making it a must-visit destination. After dinner, another great Carolina performance at the Alabama Theatre featuring toe-tapping music, amazing choreography, stunning stage effects, and side-splitting comedy!

DAY THREE: After breakfast and checking out of our Myrtle Beach hotel we depart for North Carolina following the Atlantic seaboard. Our travel day will take us into the Outer Banks. This thin strip of barrier islands is 200 miles long and juts out into the Gulf Stream of the Atlantic Ocean, bringing temperate climates and sea life to the region. We will check into our Nags Head oceanfront accommodations for the next two nights and enjoy dinner out.

DAY FOUR: After breakfast, we depart for a visit to the Wright Brothers National Memorial. The Visitors Center has a full-scale replica of the original plane, as well as exhibits and talks on history of the Wright Brothers. The Centennial Pavilion houses exhibits about the Outer Banks at the turn-of-the-century, the evolution of aviation, the challenges of flight and NASA-sponsored exhibits. This afternoon, we visit the Manteo and Elizabethan Gardens where history, mystery and fantasy are combined. The gardens are a memorial to the first English colonists and Queen Elizabeth. America’s oldest mystery. This evening we will enjoy dinner out.

DAY FIVE: After breakfast, our day begins touring Cape Hatteras National Seashore. We will stop at the Bodie Island Lighthouse for a perimeter tour and photo opportunity. After lunch, get ready for a special treat on an Outer Banks Wild Horse Tour! We will cruise the Outer Banks beaches in specialized Hummer vehicles with a seasoned guide in search of the Colonial Spanish Mustangs! View the horses in their natural environment as we venture into three distinct ecosystems teeming with wildlife accessible only by these unique off-road vehicles. This two hour adventure is a top attraction along the North Carolina coast! Later, we will travel just north for dinner and check into our Norfolk hotel for the night.
